This 8-minute video is a small part of my ongoing project that I have been able to develop in cite international des art in paris.

In this project I focus on Frantz Fanon and his approach to colonialism. Frantz Omar Fanon was a psychiatrist and political philosopher from the French colony of Martinique. His works have become influential in the fields of postcolonial studies, critical theory, and Marxism.

His work has greatly influenced my personal life, although I lived at a different time and in a different regions. His perspective helps me a lot to become aware of what is happening around me. What does it mean to be in a coloniser/ colonised country? How to even think to survive colonialism?

The issues he addressed were very similar to those I lived with.

It was extremely fascinating how all these struggles are interconnected. How similar they are even though they are far apart and also take place in different time periods.

It is important to sense that we are not walking alone through certain cruel political trauma caused by colonialism. I want to develop this video work to also address these important questions: how much the union of the struggle is impotent and how much it could be effective if we learn about the similar political traumas and issues. That we open up, listen to each other and share and the sense of solidarity grows. And to face that trauma we may need a collective healing.
